Sason Village, Aulua, Malekula, Vanuatu

We stayed four nights in the two-room house above where I am walking with Quentin. The dining house is the smaller building to the right. The larger building on the lower right is another family's home.

Fresh Fish for Dinner

Joslyn cooked us fresh fish for dinner almost every day. The small kitchen house is behind.

Malekula Island (August 24-31, 2009)

I travelled to Malekula for a week with my aunt, uncle, two cousins and my dad. The first few nights we stayed in Sason Village, Aulua. Our hosts were Maxim and Joslyn. We ate our meals in their dining room. They have a separate kitchen structure, a separate building with a bedroom, and a separate outhouse.

Whoonu (August 22, 2009)

Several people came to our house for a social night. We played the Whoonu game, table tennis and watched a movie after dinner.

Second Prize (August 21, 2009)

I was very happy to win second prize at school today for guessing the length of a piece of string in a jar. I am holding my prize, which is a large bag full of goodies. A kitten named Tuna is on my shoulder. He is very friendly and a lot of kids like to play with him.

Second Place

I won second place in a fundraiser contest. I was second closest to guessing the length of a long string in a glass jar. It turned out to be 2.87 meters long. Three other people in this photo won a contest for guessing the number of small candies in a jar.

Quentin Received an Award

Quentin received an award today at the assembly for good work done. This is a picture of him with a kitten named Tuna. Many kids like to play with Tuna because he is so friendly.

Classmates

These three girls are in my class (grade) 5/6 split. I am in class 5. They are in class 6.

End of Term School Assembly (August 21, 2009)

The Beach Boys (August 15, 2009)

We went to a really nice beach near Pelakula, Santo and had a great time. It took 15 minutes to drive there from Luganville.

At the Beach (August 15, 2009)

Enjoying the warm shallow water before diving in.

Water at the Beach (August 15, 2009)

We drink a lot of water on hot days.

My Aunt and Uncle are sitting in the shade on a woven mat.

On the Computer

My Dad is sending emails and doing some work on his laptop.

Reading Books

Me and my cousins like to read books. Erin and I read a lot of the same books - but not usually at the same time.

Outrigger Canoe

This canoe is hand carved from one large tree trunk. It has a pontoon extended out on one side. There is usually one paddler but this one has two men. The ocean around Luganville was very calm today.

Erin and Quentin at School

Me and my cousins are hanging out at lunch break.

Taxi to School

This is the taxi that I use to drive to school with my cousins. The driver's name is William. He takes us to school in the morning and brings us home after school. The cost is 200 vatu or about $2 for the ride each way. It is the same cost for the taxi even if you have one or five people in the car. The Rowhani Baha'i School is about 3 km from home.

Games (August 2, 2009)

Me and my cousins play many games together. Today we played in the rain, raced cars, played checkers, chess and Whoonu, played on the Internet, read books and more.

Playing in the Rain (August 2, 2009)

Me and my cousins played after Sunday School with two other friends, Zarine and Furutan. We filled up water bottles and a large squirt gun and chased each other in the rain.

Climbing the Walls (July 31, 2009)

My cousins taught me how to climb the walls several days ago. We are only allowed to climb the walls a couple times a day since it can make the walls dirty. It is fun and good exercise.

Skype

This is a Skype photo of Erin, me and Quentin talking to relatives. Actually we were having some fun using the video and talking to my Dad and Uncle Steve who were on the laptop in the next room.
